hahaha!!! you guys are hilarious.
i like my stock radio.
honda told me that its a 700 dollar radio.
my car is an '01 and i have the clock.
im assuming from you guys its a v2 radio in my car.
o yeah btw whats that adapter harness extra hook up you need to add if you change out your headunit to an aftermarket one and still be able to use your driver side left hand radio controls?
or in japan the driver side right hand radio controls?
(the only luxury on an ap1 is cruise control) don't have it no more.
SUPER ADVAN VERSION 2 on tha way. haha!!!!

01-03 AP1s have it on the radio.

I bought it - it's from a company called PAC (personal audio control I think). They have universal ones, or cheaper ones that work with specific brands.
For example I got the one for my Sony deck (works with Pioneer too). Basically you connect your car's control wires to it - then connect the deck's control input wires to it as well.
You then program it with which type of car you're using and set your controls (IE you can have it do whatever you want with each button). Pretty easy and straightforward.
However I did run into 2 annoying snags.
1) The "Mute" button we have sends power to the factory deck when activated (which the factory deck understands as the Mute command). My Sony deck's "Mute" function is designed to have it's mute wire grounded to do Mute. In order to use the Mute button as normal I had to get a SPDT relay (single pole double throw) and wire it to the Mute wires from the button and deck. Not much work but after paying so much for the stupid PAC you'd think they could just build that function into the unit.
2) My Sony deck has a 4-way navigation system (up is Album/Disc up, down is Album/Disc down, left is Track/Station back, right is Track/Station forward). Although the deck's wireless remote can do all it's functions correctly the PAC seems to be retarded.
No matter how I tried to program it, the only 'forward' it would send to the deck is Album/Disc up (tried setting it to different car buttons with no change, as expected). This is annoying because on MP3 discs when you want to skip a song you have to flip down the deck plate and press the buttons manually which kind of defeats the purpose of having controls next to the wheel. You might not have this problem with another deck or brand altogether.

All in all it was worth it even just for the volume functions IMO.

I think it is some stupid price like that. But then again, the price of something is whatever the seller sets it at.
For example, I removed the stock radio and it's been sitting on my shelf collecting dust for a year. This one is special stock radio though. I'll let it go for $17,000 shipped.
It's a 17,000 dollar radio.
