Reverse Lights no working.
So i purchased my S recently with a few small known problems. all were simple fixes except my reverse lights. i was hoping it was just a simple fuse, but this doesnt look like the case.
so i got under the car and tested a few things. first a check all the fuses, and they look good. even switched various 7.5 fuses to make sure. all is good.
second i tested the reverse switch in the tranny. first i put it in reverse (ignition off) and got 0 resistance betweent he two sides, then pulled it out of reverse and got infite resistance... good. next turned on the ignition. out of gear, i got 12.8V on one side, and 0 on the other. put it in reverse, and got 12.8 on both sides. ... good.
(CLIFF NOTES THUS FAR: its not the switch and its not the fuses)
went to the reverse lights and pulled the plug for the reverse bulb. it looks like bother are reading 0 resistance with a chassis ground (bold right next to the tail lights in trunk). any idea of how both wires (black, and green with black stripe) are both grounded out? im sure this is the problem with the lights.
thanks in advance for any help

sounds like a nightmare. But if its grounding out then that would be something i dont think we can help you with cause maybe its a stripped wire somewhere and they are touching? dunno. Maybe check to see if the right bulbs are in there cause a person can just buy bulbs and stick them in and they are not the right ones in terms of nipple placement.
well ill double check the bulbs, but the gounded readings were coming from the plug on the harness side.
does know where this harness connects (closer to the power source) so i can unplug it and check to see if its grounding infront of, or behind, that point?

btw, now might be a good time to ask... is the s2000 manual free in pdf like it is for preludes? i still need to find one.

The interior chassis harness runs underneath the roll hoops down to between the driver door jam and driver seat.
The PDF version of the manual is considered piracy unless you own the paper version. Keep it to PMs, stay out of trouble.

so i disconnected the plug by the drivers left foot, and on the engine side, i got 11.8V in reverse, and 0 out of reverse. once i plug the chassis harness back in i got nothing. it was all grounded.... so the ground is somewhere from the drivers left foot and back.
is there anywhere along there that the harness in close to anything moving, or near a sharp edge/screw or something. i can see the harness pretty well along the door jam and up the back of the seat, and can see what in the trunk. im guessing theres about 2 ft or so of harness under the upper soft top deck that i can see easily.
(note, i havent found any fishy stuff like deformed metal that may have cut the harness. i havent seen any signs of body work (thus far))

The rest of the harness requires digging under carpet, plastic trim, and the roll hoops themselves. Try going through the trunk carpetting first, infront of the fuel neck and pump area.
