Has anyone ever done it? I was thinkin maybe the push button starting may interfear with it? Im looking at this alarm, http://www.gopme.com/lynx2000.html , it's designed for manual cars. Any recomendations/comments, lemme know.

My friend has it.

I wouldn't personally do it since I'd be scared of the car taking off on me.

As for the dummies who say it can't happen, it happened to me before.

But check out that alarm. Apparently it has a feature that enables you to remove the key, and exit the car, the alarm will keep the engine running, when you close the door, it turns off the engine. So it knows its in neutral, therefor it will remote start the next time.

-shrugs- That doesn't stop your friends going into your car and moving it into gear while playing with the shifter. It doesn't stop mechanics/body shops/detailers/etc. from accidently leaving it in gear and accidently pressing the wrong two buttons. It doesn't stop you from forgetting (although I never forgot). It didn't stop my friend from leaving it in gear when he drove for me because I was too intoxicated to drive away either.

If you could design it so it would not remote start UNLESS the car was in neutral I personally wouldn't go for it. It's just not worth the risk or hassle IMO.

if theres a system out there that will only allow you to remote start when the car is in neutral, then id get it. otherwise, there are too many chances for something to go wrong...

The remote start for manual cars does really work. You get out the car and the engine stays running. When you close the door the alarm then cuts off the engine. This will allow you to remote start it and know its in neutral. If someone opens the door before the remote start is used the alarm knows and will not allow the remote starter to engage unless you start the engine again and repeat the whole process. My buddy had it in his Prelude.

What alarm does he have? Do you think the Clifford RSX has it?

I forgot the brand but I think thats the way all manual remote car starters are designed to work.

there are systems that have this function. my friend has a clifford alarm and it wont autostart unless its neutral (ive tried)

Could you get the Clifford Model #? I've never heard of this feature before.
