Rear tire reccomendations.
Ok guys. I did some seaching, but I still need some help w/finding a good rear tire for the S. The S-02 was the obivous choice, but after looking @prices it seems as if there are alot of other choices for lower prices.
The vehicle is my grandmothers, but, I'd like to keep the rear as sticky as possible because she is really used to the way the car behaves now.
Basically, I want to make sure the car doesn't have an extreme front bias, as far as grip is concerned. ie, the rear doesn't stick as well as the front. I'd rather not make the car more tail happy than it is now..
A couple of other options I have found: (225/50/16, her car is the '03 model)
BFG T/A KDW ($125/EA)
http://discounttiredirect.com/...ar=50
Michelin Pilot A/S ($155/EA)
http://discounttiredirect.com/...ar=50
Goodyear Eagle F1 GS-D3 ($145/EA)
http://discounttiredirect.com/...ar=50
Avon Tech M-500 ($90/EA)
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/...ex=11
Let me know if you think any of these tires are suitable, and if running 2 different tires front and rear is acceptable. If not, I'll just spring for the OE goodness...
Also, if you have any other reccomendations, please post them up.

running different F and R tires is not good. will lead to very bad results considering the choices you posted have less grip than the stock s02's. i would stick with oem

most people dont understant that one thing that make biggest difference in a car is the TIRES.
dont go to cheap route to get cheaper tires. that is my recommendation.
i seen it someone went that route and also saw him crash his car too.

Keep in mind this isn't my vehicle.. It's my grandmothers.
I really thought the pilot's, avons' or BFG would be right on par in terms of grip..
However, I can see how running different tires f/r can lead to bad results, guess ill spring for the OE's

holy ****!?!?!\
ur grandma??
oh wells, it's not that bad since my aunt drives my cousins s2k sometimes.
s03's are nice as well, but what nishant said was good. dont mix and match. your grandma's life is going to be riding on the tires that she chooses.

if you want a good cheap tire why not look into the Yoko ES100's. a lot of S owners are running those tires.
if you're in SoCal give Arnel a call at America's Tire Co in the city of Artesia. he'll give you a good deal on a set.

Re: (rsaeini)
Yoko ES100 are about as sticky as BFGs, if that. the BFG KDW would do well for her once rain season comes. I run on OEM Potenza RE050 in the summer, and Kumho 712s in the fall/winter. F/R sizes are 225/45/17 and 245/40/17.
