Default Question about ECU

well i have a 00 S2, everything is stock on the car, but my friend said if i swap a 02-03 ECU in it, it would make a bit different, is that true? also what are some of the difference?

Get yourself a Vafc and have it tuned. Because the 00-02's run richer than the newer models, you'll see some pretty good gains from a well tuned Vafc.

so you guys suggest gettin 02-03 ecu or just VAFC?

go with a Vafc like i did since you can always make changes hen need be unlike the ECU.....

dont you have to reprogram all the keys if you swap the ecu?

you actually have to reprogram the ecu (ecm). I had mine replaced and had to take it to the dealer because it's programmed from a dealer-only tool. they put the vin # into the ecm and all that stuff.

my friend told me the 02-03 ECU its plug in and play.....ah i might just get a VAFC

as stated... u have to reprogram it at teh dealer because of the immobilizor

yeah, I forgot to mention that. the ecm is reprogrammed to accept the transponder in the key. I guess it makes sense that you could do it the other way and reprogram the key... but not sure. the dealer will know for sure.

It depends. Think about what you're trying to get out of the car. If you have bigger goals, get the AEM EMS.
