this is sort of how they do it..... except for the microwave part...
they powder coat parts by hooking an electrical charge to the part.... then the paint is sprayed and attracted to the part... the powder coating leaves less hazardous waste behind, and the overspray can be vacuumed up and then re-used....
then the finish is baked on......

parts gets sand blasted, than chemical etched (sometimes). it is than grounded. A special gun, usually a corona type, sucks powder from a hopper, or the box of powder, pulls it through a tube with a metal rod that has a positive cahrge, usually anywhere from 10kv-100kv. The powder shoots out the gun, now with a positive charge, and finds the nearest ground with least resistance, aka your part. it sticks to the part like dust sticks to your tv screen. It is than cured in an oven for a specified amount of time at a certain temp. Thats it in a nutshell.
