Maybe he means if you actually shoot the tranny with a 9mm, it'll still be ok.

My friends have had troubles with their tranny's (02-03 WRX's) and they're not really that hard on their cars. Some others I know with STI's have no known issues so far, though.

 

Issues are lack of tq, jk lol

Only issues I got is rattles from the softop and that's about it, other than that cars cool, and swirl marks!

 

The paint is uper thin. If your girl farts while posing next to it, it swirls. My Ap2 had a tranny problem where 2nd gear would spontaneously disengage. The top strikers will rattle till you get it replaced. After 6 months they will rattle again and you just have to repeat the steps. The rear bumper fitment is like a Subaru. The tranny can heat up pretty good on long drives which soak into the passenger compartment.

With that said just go out an drive the S2000. When you are done, get in the Suby. Make up your own mind and you shall be happy.

 

the only "problem" i thought of was audio. I realize i don't listen to music much in the car, but when i did i wanted to hear it, especially with the top down. So, some Phoenix Gold components in the roll bar hoops soved that.

no other problems...then again, i don't even have 9k on the car and it's an 04

Just to make a quick example...ONE of them is a regular autocrosser in Atlanta...he had a 2002 WRX with simple bolt ons, a boost controller and B&M short shifter...after 4 outings...he had me over there tearing it down back to stock so that we could bring it into subaru to have the transmission serviced...that was the first time, this happened 2 more times before he sold it and bought an Evo VIII.

My other friend has a 2003, he drives his like a grandma (has 2 kids)...he's had 2 loaner cars while his was on the shop for window problems and transmission problems (i believe his problems were with the synchros)...

So though you may not have had any problems, and i may have witnessed several problems...we both saw different things. It is safe to say that the WRX is a good all around car, i wont deny that...but to call the tranny bulletproof...not even close bud.

My response was to fknfast calling them "**** box (scooby)" I am not saying the WRX is a perfect car. They may not be bulletproof but they are far from **** boxes. I am more concerned about breaking something in my S2K than I was in my scooby.

I was simply trying to address the purpose of the thread. Crazydude wanted opinions from people who have had experience with these cars. It just seems like some people are all doped up on a "Honda pill" and there opinions are always anti anything but Honda. It's easy to hate what you don't understand.

If it will make you happy I would like to downgrade my "bulletproof" rating to "pelletproof"

I just got a 01' s2k a few days ago, already the rear plastic window is pissing me off. First I just noticed it was misty and hard to see through, then I noticed there was a crack forming too!!!! I sealed the crack with some clear plastic welder which worked really well to water proof it but now its all I see.

Just to replace the little plastic window it seems would cost $275 for the part and probably another $200 in labor.....and it would probably happen all over again a couple years later.

*Anyone know how much the soft top/glass window conversion would cost?

*or how much it would be to drop the hard top on there?

oh by the way, other than that I freakin love it.

cuz his car is still being built. plus mines better. hahah j/k. mines fresh. as for no guys gettin at me...who knows? Maybe cuz i'm asian and i look like i'm mean or i'm a snob. or maybe they just can't catch up or keep up with me on the road. hahaha i hope i'm not bein too cocky.
