Anyone familiar with performance chips? they can run around 10$ and they say they add an extra 35 horses. Hows it work, is it safe to do and is the installation really really tricky? thanks

first off.
real performance chips are usally a few hundred dollars, but yes, could someone please divulge into how Dinan chips on Beemers, and Jim Wolf Chips on veedubs work? I have always wanted to know myself.
