Default New S2K owner and one question

Well, I finally took the plunge and traded in my base RSX for something a little bit faster . I bought this car in Clearwater, Florida and so far, no regrets. The sale price for the 2003 S2K was $19.5K (which includes a 45k bumper to bumper warranty and GAP insurance) after trade (I also owed 9k on the RSX, got 10k for the car). The car came with the exhaust already and since I am new to the S2K scene, I was wondering what kind of exhaust is it?

Yeah I figured it was a T1R from the tips.

T1r = Type One Racing. You can find more info about their stuff at http://www.aj-racing.com

Ha, I guess that's a good thing then. Appreciate the help!

Judging by the looks, it is this one correct?

Well they have several versions. Jack up the car, find out if it's a header back or a cat back. Then measure the piping to see if it'sa 70mm or 63mm.

Nice congrats on the buy. Plus that exhuast makes some good power no matter if its 63mm or 70mm header or catback. All the T1R exhausts make decent power. But the 70mm headerback or catback with testpipe would be ideal. Anyways drop the car throw a lip on it and ull be set.

Thanks guys, I LOVE the ride.

Another weird thing. I'll make it short and quick

1. 3 bars left on gas gauge
2. Filled up with $24/8.3 gals ??????
3. Drove 10 miles and 3 bars gone
4. Filled up again with $3/1.1 gals
5. Gas didn't show full until 8 miles AFTER that

Yah the Gas gauge on these cars is on crack.

I don't pay any attention to it I use my trip meter and go by mileage as the gauge is nowhere near accurate.

it's nice that you can have the gas light come on, drive the car for 50 miles, go to sleep and wake up the next morning with 3 bars of fuel...

I've been pretty constant at around 20 city and 25 freeway.

The OEM header and exhaust was designed by Mugen. You will mostly see weight reduction, with minimal hp gains when you go aftermarket.

I paired a Mugen 2.2 header with a Mugen Dual exhaust. Midrange acceleration has increased noticably between 2500 and 5000 rpm. At 5000 rpm the supercharger kicks into high gear and Vtec and the blower are all systems go at 6000 rpm.

Headers will all do something different. Some will give you more midrange punch while others will help you breathe easier in the top end. As far as exhausts, bigger isn't always better. Since the car has little torque it needs resistence to build pressure for power. The only way to build real power in this car is with a blower or a stroker. Otherwise, buy a different platform.

also, in response to the thread. I'll give a to a nice exhaust......but to the comment that someone made about it being the best exhaust on the market I give a . That is a very subjective comment and maybe you haven't seen a Mugen, ASM or an Amuse exhaust before, otherwise you may think differently.
