Default My Nissan Diff Conversion project completed (Sorry 56kb dialup users)

Firstly the culprit,

If you have not seen what a complete s2k axle looks like, just picture 2 CV joints at either ends.

Here are some snap shots of the progress so far, more to come at the end of the week

I am 70% convinced that it's should be at the end of this week......if there is no further delay.

The axles, front mounting bracket are fabricated. Just a few more things to finish;
-spline and heat treat the billet axle
-spline and heat treat the flange connecting the stock prop shaft to this JDM S13 diff
-the rear bracket CAD is done and was about to be CNC machined yesterday

This kit will be available for order later on. You can order the whole kit or parts from the kits to save freight. You will need to source a JDM S13 diff and a pair of CV. I am currently using a pair Skyline R33 GTST inner CV joints for extra strength but the S13 CV will be ok. If you use the S13 CV you may need to custom order the driveshafts from your local driveshaft specialist.

More pictures will be coming soon if I get much spare time this week.

Cheers
Dan

Very nice project. Have you taken into consideration the grade of alumn you're using for the brackets?

I came around the shop today.
Two bad news
1. I forgot my camera ....as I was too eager to do some burnout and practice my launch today :D
2. Everything was completed but they had to redo the billet axles as there are 2 small cracks after the heat treatment process. They suspected this from a faulty suply of metal. This is extremely rare and it's just my badluck.

Thumb up for the place for great and thorough customer service. These cracks are so small and barely visible. Any other workshop would have install them and then blame it on their customer when the axles breaks.

Thanks for chasing it up blue. It shouldnt be of any problem if you have not got these. There are an abundant of them in Aus.

it never hurts to ask them (engineers) about that. Make sure the grade aluminum they used can withstand some torquing and flex so it wont crack. It's an easy mistake to make by choosing the wrong metal for the intended purose of the brackets.

I think these guys know what they are doing vapor. They make all sort of things for V8 racing, variuos type of formula karts racing, a few stuffs for General Motors etc. They custom fit and build differential for some of the local V8 racing teams.

I'll ask if you want me to vapor. What material do you recommend for this stuff? Would you recommend heat treatment for the bracket?

They obviously have skills in fabrication and development to take on a project of this caliber. I'm just pointing out how easy it is to make a mistake. PM sent
