Default ...is an LSD worth it?

...i just got back from the car wash, where i met this one dude that started talking to me about cars ...since he saw me pull up in a riced out S! ...i was telling him that i was in the process of installing a 4.57 final gear to add some much needed low end torque, just waiting for it in the mail ...he then told me that i should think of upgrading to an aftermarket LSD ...that it would bring all the horses to the rear wheels ...

really depends on why you want it. Do u track the car at all. The stock diff is a bit weak, and there have been many stories of them breaking down. An aftermarket one is always worth it, but u have to buy one which is best for ur needs. If ur looking to only go fast in a straight line then it's a good idea to buy one. hose 6-7k clutch will get a bit ruff oln the diff after a while.

they are very very worth it, and probably more noticable drivingwise than a higher FD.

They got the best LSDs out there, helical are the best.

another vouch for quaife here. yet, they do not have any applications for the S. lots of JDM tuners have LSDs. Kaaz is a top choice for most, but just saying one is the best over another without anything to back it is just blowing air across a table of desktop racers. how about a bit more on specs? fluid? and the application itself.

keep the suggestions constructive, and the application on topic.

if you want your diff and axles to last, you should either drive carefully or look at 'my nissan diff conversion"

I had the kaaz 2 way in my 240, it was loud but kept the car very controllable at the track, however, in the rain it was very dangerous. Vapors ran some carbon 2way in his S and loved it. some recomend the 1.5?

I would say it is worth to replace the stock LSD to aftermarket clutch type LSD. You will benefit with better traction, acceleration or better launching (if you drag the car). I track the car a lot and I notice the rear wheels got so much more traction with my aftermarket 2way LSD during turns and it is so much easier to control.
