i have a 01' s2k and just today it started knocking. i had the valves adjusted bout 4k miles ago and oil changed bout 1k ago. it doesnt knock at idle or under load, but if i go to shift or hold it at a stedy rpm it does. to me it doesnt sound like a rod or valves, possibly timing chain? idk what to do a shop around where i like would screw me over with what they charge just to find the problem...... any help??? plz!?

 

Have you checked your oil today?

 

not to thread jack but mines does kinda the same thing.. like when u take off, it rattles at a low rpm little like something is rubbin ..is that normal?

 

start the car have someone hold the rpms at 2-3k and hold a thin tube to the block/head and then the other end to your ear. if you hear ticking when you hold the tube to the block you have rod knock and need a bottom end most likely. if the head makes loud noises I am not exactly sure what that means but im thinking jumped timing and valves are ticking. if its not either of those then my guess is that you have trans. chatter and would be best to replace the fluid in it

 

yea oil and everything looked good.but i just took it to a shop today and they said its a rod bearing. i find out tomorrow how much damnage it done.
