Just curious if anyone has had this problem or knows anything about it, i'll be honest, i didnt look on S2ki but i did search here and didnt find anything...the problem is that at times when you remove the key from the ignition, the sensor that makes the car think the key is still in there doesnt turn off, so you'll pull the key out, you'll get that "Beep beep beep beep" noise when the door is open, and you wont be able to arm the alarm system even when the door is closed...this has happened numerous times, and since we've owned the car, i have in fact brought it back to the dealer and explained the issue to them but while it sat in their service waiting area, we could not duplicate the problem.

This doesnt happen everytime, i'd say maybe 2-3 times a week at most...sometimes only once, sometimes a few more times, but it certainly is something im concerned with.

Its easy to fix the problem, you just go stick the end of the key back into the ignition and you hear a small little "click" and it stops (as if it releases something in there)...now i admit, my knowledge on the ignition system is extremely poor, and i dont have the first clue what this could be, but since the dealership seems to be clueless as to my issue, i figured i'd ask around here to see what you guys had to say about it, and to see if perhaps someone else has had this issue as well.

do you have anything else on your key ring? aftermarket stereo? I have seen those do some crazy stuff to key lock sensors. Good luck!

Nothing on the key ring but the main key and remote for doorlocks/alarm. The radio is aftermarket but we had this issue before i put that radio in, and since the new radio, it hasnt increased in how often it does it, so i dont think either of those are causing it.

 

It sounds like something is hanging up in the ignition switch. Is the lock sticky sometimes when you try to turn it?

 

yea it happens to me hwen i turn my car off and i take hte key out fast it doesnt register i guess and it beeps and i just put the key back in and back out and it stops.. its weird.....

 

^^^ Exactly...sometimes it does it though even when i take the key out slowly...i dont know why.

Not really, no more so than my CL...if there is any resistance i dont feel it at all.
