Thats all? do you need to have the keys in the car? what if its in first gear, does it still start up? do you need to push in the clutch while pushing the button?

it's just like any other car. key in, turn key, turn key to ingition point, it stops. it doesn't travel any further in order to engage the starter. once that is in place, you put in the clutch and hit the start button to start up the car (instead of turning the key a little more). the car will not start without the clutch being IN. I believe all new cars are required to have this safety measure put in.

Yup...key's gotta be in, clutch has gotta be pushed, button push and your ready to go.

BTW...On many german cars (mainly from the 90's) you DONT have to have the clutch engaged to start the car, just for your own knowledge.

It's cool. Imagine telling a girl to "push the button to start him up".

nah..just for the cool factor...

i put a push start in the integra..my girl loved it, she used to beg to start the car...

then i got more ambitous and wired a toggle switch to act as an on/off switch, so flipping the switch was the same thing as putting the key in and turning it....so no more keys at all after that...'

luckily the alarms' starter disable still stopped it from starting when it was armed

Push the Clutch in and while holding it down just simply press the push start. It's just like an ignition with a key, you have to hold the clutch then press.

Just open up your column. There's a wire connected to the main combination switch. It it soldered to the point labeled "ST" on most cars. Just run a wire off of that, to a momentary button, and ground the other side of the button. Be sure to match the wire guage that is use to the start switch on the combo switch (I beleive it is 14).

Edit: This will run the starter without the key in, but not without the clutch in. Obviously the engine will not start though without the key in though.

So if'n i do that, it'll work the same way yours does (as described)?

If so, itd be nice to just be able to disarm my car with the remote and get in it and push the button.

I had my civic hooked up with 3 on/off switches and a momentary button. No key once you got in, and the switches were hidden. Worked pretty well The on off switches were wires from ACC -> Ground, IG1 -> Ground, IG2A -> Ground, and the button from ST -> Ground. These are normally labeled on the combination switch. I forget what color the wires were. This is on a civic, but it's the same for most Honda's.

If your car was 98+ I beleive, then the key needs to emit a certain RF frequency to start the car. I don't know how to get around that.
