How do you like freeway/interstate cruising in your s2000?
Like the title says, i just wanted to gather some opinions on how a few s2000 owners feel about driving their s2000's on the freeway/interstate. Things like how do you feel about the road/wind noise, engine noise, the firm ride, etc. Would you mind taking it on a long trip? Something like 2-3 hours vs 5-6 hours, or would it be too much for you. I would also really be thankful to anyone that can tell me around where the RPMs sit when going like 70 and 80 mph. AP1 and AP2 owners, please chime in.

i went on a 11 hr trip w/ my S last summer.. wasn't that bad.. only down side was, my ears were ringing a bit from the road noise, but other than that it was great and i'd do it again..

im at about the same. 5k @ 80mph sounds good though with the 4.77's and j's 70rr
i drove from philadelphia-nashville and back twice (12 hrs each way)... once with the spoon n1 and once with the j's. being at 4000-4500 rpms wasnt a problem at all, the exhaust drone got annoying after a while though
stock gearing...6th gear
55 mph - 3000 rpm
65 mph - 3500 rpm
75 mph - 4000 rpm
85 mph - 4500 rpm
and it goes up 500rpm every 10mph after that

if my S could turn in to a Jaguar for the long distance stuff, then it would be the perfect car..

2 weeks ago i drove 3000 miles in 2 days in my CR. in fact, i did the same trip in the CR back in may. i put ap1 wheels with 225/50 all around to soften the ride, and it was not bad at all.

i just got my 06 S2000 and taking it home from the dealer through an hr and a half of rush hr LA traffic killed my backside. i can do trips less than an or up to an hr without a problem though.
i dont mind the wind/road noise so much as i dislike the ride. but all in all im really happy with my s2k

I don't mind the ride at all in my 00 s, however I think the road noise is extremely loud and annoying at 70-75 mph on the freeway. I need a HardTop!

Re: freeway/interstate cruising
At 72-73 MPH, my stock AP1 is right at 4k RPMs. Personally, I prefer windy back roads over the open highway. There's too many semi-trucks, SUVs and minivans on the interstate and much higher risk for rock chips amongst other things. No complaints about road/wind or engine noise as I have stock exhaust and an upgraded system (HU, amps, components, subs). No complaints here about the stock ride either. On the interstate, I don't think I could handle any more than four hours by myself. Anyshing over that would require either a passenger or someone driving alongside me to keep me from falling asleep. Even though fuel economy suffers a little, I don't mind having the top down at highway speeds, but only if it's not too hot/cold or precipitating, of course.

4.44 Gears, Tein RA's, Mugen exh, Hardtop and the ride is pretty quite. Im always with the windows down so regardless of the road/wind noise... I always speak up when Im w/ a passenger.
The 405 South here in Cali is BUMPY as hell tho. My car feels like its constantly vibrating on that freeway.
