It is apparent that there is no saving you from your prudishness or hyposcrisy. I cannot help what people choose to think without any data to back it up. That shows a level of ignorance that is beyond hope.

I believe him more than what you think with no data. And I'm not about to tell him to go find the chart and scan it just for you.

This is stupid. Like I said, these mods provide pitiful gains for the money. You sure as hell aren't going to get 3X the power from the Amuse compared to the DC and there are much better ways to build power.

DC header on a stock S does nothing. with intake, exhaust and some tuning, it does make power

I don't care what you think. Obviously facts have nothing to do with it.

Now I'm confused. I planned to buy a D/C ceramic header next month. The cost was right and I thought it couldn't be that bad. I just don't understand why a Mugen header would cost so much more. Could the hp gain be that different?

Okay, it should be totally understood that a DC Header alone, especially alone, makes zero power. Sheds some pounds, yea, but no power.

HOWEVER, as probably Nishant said or someone of that credibility, with a decent intake, exhaust, and high-flow cat setup, it can yield gains. But whether or not those are due to the header, which is not good, is to be determined. Oh, and tha tis with some VAFC or AEM tuning.

If you can get us a dyno with your friends stock s2000, vs his stock s2000 with a DC header that shows a gain in power, its all good.

But I dont see that being possible.

Header design is a lot more important than you might think. A lot of factors go into designing a header that will yield any gains. Runner length, pipe diameter, and the materials used are just a few. DC ceramic headers are made of mild steel, not stainless, thus being more prone to cracking under stress/heat. You will pay more for a J's, Toda, Mugen, or Spoon header because a lot more R&D went into making it, not to mention the quality of materials is much better. Plus its expensive to pay those little Japanese people to make them by hand.

Makes sense. Thanks. Does the same rule apply to down pipes? I wanted to do my entire exhaust system, headers, and down pipe all at once. Should my exhaust and headers be manufactured by the same company?

i would never buy a dc header. they were great like...5 years ago when everyone had b series motors, but i'd much rather get a header from a specialist (j's, toda, mugen) then get a header from a company that makes headers for EVERY application.

if you're looking for a header that doesn't cost a fortune...ricks 6 plus header. that is PROVEN to show gains, and costs a hell of a lot less, plus u can still use your factory heatshield (total sleeper)

i would have to diagree with you on that one. more gains that the 300 dollar dc header. just about on par w/ the 1100 mugen header, but for 400 dollars less. i would say that 700 is a great price for a header w/ compraable gains to the mugen. i almost forgot, the comptech is also a good header if you wanna stay 50 state legal (some of us really have to to BAR)

So, are you saying that D/C headers are good and not the piece of doodoo that everyone on this site say they are?

I could go for Ricks 6 plus header for $725 but do I have to pay that extra $400 in order to achieve my goal? All I want is 30-40 hp on my 2004 S2000.

40 HP w/o FI will cost more than 100 HP with FI...

It's really hard to get much HP with NA mods. The stock header and exhaust are NOT crap.

You can get a Vortech SC from Jegs for $4k.

correct...j's IHE set up will run you almost 4k and you may get 20whp out of it. at the same time you can buy a vortech or comptech sc for 5k and get 100hp out of it and its reliable at stock boost
