Default Having some common problems I think

Anyone else having these problems with there AP1

1. Starter sticks making a grinding noise on cold mornings.

2. Soft top wear's out farely fast from the bar directly above your head when your sitting in the car.

3. Tires wear out quickly 15,000 miles or so.

4. Sometimes clutch slips at redline.

Just trying to get some good answers about people with the same problem and if they've been able to fix there's yet.

Don't think I'll be able to do anything about the tire wear but you catch th drift.

Thanks in Advance.

Thanks, I'm asking because I've talked to a couple people with the same problems I'm really concerned with the soft top because I think it can be fixed but not so easily as the starter I just don't want to go thru a convertable top every year.

Well anyone with the same problems?

Hmmm maybe not as common as I thought. Did your top rip on both sides?

It's a RWD sports car with aggressive alignment specs and stagger-sized sticky summer tires. Short tread life is to be expected.

4. Sometimes clutch slips at redline.
Assuming you're not the average toolbag driver, the clutch is on its way out. Put some money aside now so that when it starts to slip constantly, you'll be prepared to replace it.

Mine ripped on the driver side as well. It folds right there when putting it up and down so creasing it makes it a high fail spot. Sucks. Had such little wind noise prior to that. Tires go at around there. Quicker for me as I drift on them too... but ya I heard it is common to go through two sets of rears for each set of fronts. Didn't really believe them at the time but I am well on my way towards it.

There was a TSB about the 2nd bar I believe on the soft top.

I'm not sure if the TSB's in these links overlap, but theres some links to check out. The second link is a safety recall on the tops for 00-02. However I'm not sure if that's relevant. You can skim through them though and see, because I'm pretty sure I remember there being something about the exact bar you were talking about.

Thanks for everyone's help. Looks like the did replace the tops for a seat belt recall. It would be nice if they still would do that.

Yeah well i just drive mine and they go that quick. But IDK with my civic I was always swapping out the gauge cluster and never really new how long my tires lasted. I buy proxes 4's cause the affordably and I like them.

Sorry should have been more clear i did say it slips at redline I meant to say it slips after you shift at redline. Like red line it in 1st and when you shift in second it will slip its not horrible but you can tell it's slipping.

ah, that make more since. if its doing that then it will soon start slipping in the midrange. mine started that around 85k miles. i couldnt feel it slipping when vtec hit, but you could see it on the dyno.

Ahhh! maybe I had a tech put a wheel bearing in it the other day he said vtec felt a little weaker than he remembered plus mine has 126,000 on it so it's prolly time for Competition clutch and flywheel.
