strange problem starting
hey guys, been having this problem for the past couple of weeks now.
basically a cold start in my 94 GSR requires multiple key turns. each time i turn the key to ignition, the starter does not make its cranking noise, i only hear one faint clicking sound from the engine compartment after each turn.
after turning the key about 5-6 times, the engine will eventually start. sometimes, maybe 4th or 5th turns, the starter motor will engage and then die, if i hear this, the engine starts fine immediatly after. ive been told it may be a clutch sensor problem, but ive tried starting it both having the clutch depressed all the time and releasing engaging the clutch between turns. i have an AEM cold air intake in this car, otherwise it is complete stock. Oil changes every 3k, otherwise running strong with 136K miles.
this problem does not happen after a hot restart but is happening now everytime its been left for 4+ hours.
thanks for any help!

Check ALL the big cables. Disconnect the battery (-) cable, then check both ends of the big (+) cable. Look for corrosion or loose connections. Then check all the grounds the same way. Maybe it's as simple as that.
If that doesn't do it, get someone to help. Hit the starter with a broom handle or something while your helper turns the key. If that makes the starter run, get a new starter.
Otherwise, check whether you get a signal at the small wire on the starter. That wire should get battery voltage when you turn the key to 'start'. If not, check your ignition switch, clutch switch, or clutch interlock relay.

In the mornings when I go out to start my car, I turn the key over and nothing, not even a click, But if you hold the key in the start position- for say maybe 5 seconds- then it starts like a champ( no long drug out weak sounding start, more like a healthy start). But after that , once it has been running it starts w/o holding it. </TD></TR></TABLE>
