Engine died while cruising
Well last night after filling up my gas (93 at citgo) i headed out to visit some friends. I was cruising the entire way and enjoying the nice weather in the back roads when about 7 miles down, my car stalled suddenly while I was coming to a stop sign. I waited about 10 seconds and started the car and it stumbled a bit but started. I knew something was wrong immediately, but being in a two lane road I really had no place to stop.
So I continued on trying to get to the only gas station around, about 5 miles away, when my car stalled again while i was cruising about 45. I stopped in the middle of the road and the car just wouldnt fire up. It turns over but just doesnt want to catch. I ended up getting help from some guys to push it up a hill into a driveway and waited for the tow truck.
I got home and pulled the code and got 8 and 58, which is TDC sensor 1 and 2. I looked at both sensors and theyre both connected. I'm not sure what else I should check. Are these sensors prone to going bad? They would cause the engine to not get spark, correct? I hear the fuel pump priming up and the engine just turns over and over but doesnt want to fire up.
I checked with the dealership for the two sensors and they are about 90 bucks a piece and are special order, so they wont be here till about thurs or friday and the two truck is taking forever

Did you pull them and check the sensor surface. That does sound like the source of the missing spark, though those sensors aren't prone to failure. The times that I did pull mine, I noticed slight build up (similar to magnetic drain plug, but with soot instead of metal flakes). Tried cleaning them off? They are magnetic sensors after all.
i'll try cleaning them and see if that does anything...though they look pretty clean.
the sensors are towards the firewall on top of each side of the valve cover.
