I have a 98 GSR and a 05 CBR. Im thinking of getting a s2k. I probably could only afford one with high miles at this point. my question is how reliable is the s2000 above 100k miles, how many of you guys have one over 100k. My GSR has 93k miles.
Thanks in advance. I know that hondas are reliable but i have heard mixed things about the S.

just as reliable as any other Honda w/ proper maintenance......
there a plenty of owners of s2ks with over 100k miles on them on s2ki.com. its a honda and if you maintain it, it will hold up just fine.
im almost at 100k miles and i havent had any problems so far. I need to do my maintenance but even if i didnt breaking down is not an option.

2nd most, STi tops it.
2nd most, STi tops it.
As far as specific years, I have heard the 04 is the most reliable any truth to that?

Reliable because they're newer and have less average miles than an AP1. Wait til an AP2 hits 150k, then we'll see. For now, they're nice.

200k na, 150k with SC kit .--->s2ki
<--100k perfect compression here
nothing major took a dump yet, just keep up with the maintenace date

That is pretty surprising to here that they are that reliable, considering the amount of performance that you get. I know that Hondas are reliable but that is good to here. I know that consumer reports has reliability guides, but they charge a fee to get that info. Does anyone have anything similar.I just want to know what year had the least problems. Also VSC was added to the car what year 06. because I dont want that on the car I would just end up turning it off everyday.

pretty much.
you can turn the VSA off, but if things go crazy it comes right back on. Guy I know with an 07 said his was off and came back on when he lost traction in low temps.

It happens. It's a good thing for the streets, especially if you DD, but it's really annoying when you're trying to have fun.
So VSA cannot be completely defeated....That would prevent me from buying anything after 05, right there. Thanks for the good info, guys.

Yes it can. I did some pretty crazy stuff with it disabled, and it never came back on. I have never heard of anything where it came back on.
I would like some links to support the above post.

When it comes to the AP1's, when looking at one what should i look out for. I have heard that the tranny and differential is very weak in the ap1's. Any opinions appreciated!!!

I'm pretty sure he may have THOUGHT that it was off but it was probably on the whole time... Im just saying that because VSA has never turned back on for me after i turn it off...

You may be correct. The consensus is that the light comes on to warn you of situations where the VSA would come on, but actually doesn't.
