Custom rollbars
Just like the topic says, i plan on building my own rollbar for my car myself, and i was wondering if any of you guys have one with your soft top, does it fit well? were there any issues with the soft top clearing? Should I wait till i get a Hard Top for the car and then build it? Ive seen pictures with bars, but I dont recall if they had the soft top or not, I'm not sure what size tubing im going to be using but its going to be made with DOM tubing. thank you for your help guys
BTW, the bar isnt going to be just for looks i want it to be functional when i take it to the track and what not.

I have done a few, http://www.racetechmotorsports...9_138 and here, http://smg.photobucket.com/alb...0Bar/
Not really meant to be, any way he is in California. Pics show him what needs to be done to fit soft top and all of the safety belts and console if he wishes since there is no additional staorage for small stuff.
Keep us posted on the results after you build it.

you need to find out what the safety requirements are for the organizing bodies you want to track with. Typically, if you're getting into competitive racing, the sanctioning body will tell you what you need, ie: size of tubing, type of tubing, cage design with angles/cross bars, base plate info, clearance measurements, etc.
I would not advice having any metal tubing, near your head in a street driven car or running a racing seat/racing harnesses on a street driven car. The s2000 has adequate roll-over protection for most uses other than wheel to wheel racing.
Sorry I couldn't answer your question but I hope you'll rethink your goal of a rollbar.

I agree. I don't know if you're making your own to save money or something else, and in case you are not aware, the "Go Fast Lab" has already created a roll bar that works with the soft and hard top, and is SCCA approved.

It isn't Actually SCCA approved, only in Solo at TT
# SCCA Solo I/Time Trial spec for elevated speed safety
# Mandrel bent 1.75" DOM 0.120" wall thickness
# Removable diagonal brace with billet machined clevis ends.
# Removable harness bar
From their site.
It is really heavy and big, it sits in front of old bar and squeezes the seat even more forward. It has removable bars which isn't legal in SCCA Road Racing. But it does allow for more protection and you have to CUT plastic to make it fit.
Have fun doing your own bar, Do it the way you like it.
