It's advanced, don't do it if you're not mechanically inclined.

just curious as to why you think you need to change it?

are you rebuilding the engine?

I live in Maine, and it's between 0 and 45 degrees everday now. Everytime I start my car in the morning after it has been turned off for 8 hours or more, it makes this horrible wind up noise. Sounds like what happens when you start a car while it is running.

The Honda dealership near me said it was the alternator, but everyone else that has heard it says it is the chain.

This is a link to a youtube video of an s2000 (not mine) that makes the same noise http://youtube.com/watch?v=70hDPdXzmDo

Thanks for all of your help guys, you kick ***.

thats just the timing chain tensioner. Just did mine at 60k. Sounds like a new car again. Took me 5 minutes to change. Search "TCT" on s2ki.

could it possibly be the starter solonoid not retracting fast enough after the car is started?

Does anyone know if this could be the problem?
