7-10lbs psi with good tuning on turbo, but I would stay between 7-8psi to safe, cause its an S2000 cmon you dont wanna blow up such a nice motor. I suggest a fuel management system of hondata s200b and a chipped ECU and good a tune, you'll be spending a lot, over 3 g's plus. Tuning is key or else save up for another motor just incase it blows. But I would rather go supercharger, much safer on stock motor and you can run at least 10lbs safely with a good tune of course, if your going daily driver. If not a daily driver, boost it up the *** if its track or what not. Thats just my .02, GL!

^ don't listen to any of that gibberish... LOL....that has to be some of the worst advice ever.....

you can easily boost 7-12psi with good tuning on the stock block with stock compression...... if you want over 400rwhp, drop the compression with a simple 3mm or 2mm headgasket and you're good to go... if you want over 500rwhp, it's time for you to build the block... the stock block can easily handle up to around 500rwhp....

do not get any hondata or chipped ecu when you go turbo with this car... besides there is only a hondata for the 06 model and no other models....... go with a AEM EMS, HKS f-con or motec.. make sure you get a tuner thats dealt with s2k's and knows what they are doing with whichever tuning system you go with...

thats great for you, the question was about the limit on the stock block for safe boost...turbo=9-10lbs for conservative boost...supercharger robs power and is always spooling, where the turbo only spools under heavy throttle...more efficient for dd.

correct about professional tuning being a must.

s2000 motors are forged from factory. not even sr20's are forged internals. as long as it is tuned professionally do it.

the stock block still has a limit before it can't handle it anymore.... read above and you'll know the "semi official" limit

Superchargers blow. Go turbo. It is possible to do over 400 whp safely on stock motor. I just put a full-race kit on my car. It is running 340 whp at 8 psi on pump gas with a cat. I will be taking the cat off soon and running a 3in. pipe all the way back, then it should make 370 whp. If I run with race gas I will make it over 400 easy.

yes, supercharger and turbo blow, that's what they do, they are big **** air pumps

depends on the application, i would go turbo or root type SC, a proper sized turbo has little lag and way more deficiency than centrifugal SC, root type sc for the instants autocross power, something that 2.0-2.2 liter motor lacks

Roots type is still in works not out yet.

S/c is more reliable there for better for every day driver. Turbo more power, but tuning everytime the weather changes.

first things first, call Cody at LoveFab. (www.lovefab.com) He's a great guy and actually has knowledge and experience boosting stock S2000 blocks. There are few that know what they are talking about in this thread.

No, I am not affiliated with LoveFab.

psi numbers will differ from turbine to turbine..just throwin that out there. 10 psi on one setup is different from another. so just randomly throwin psi numbers out without the turbo setup is useless. now hp numbers dealing with block rigidity is more relevant and useful. (i.e. the block will handle well up to 400 rwhp)

you can hit 400whp with a S/C too you know. usual # at the wheels for a s/c s2000 with a vortech or comptech s/c is around the low 300's like 320whp-340whp. and plus, you get that instant response time that comes from a s/c. top end doesnt hurt from it either.

HOLY COW!!! lots to say here...

*TURBOS all the way... as a DD, the turbo only really kicks the higher rpm you go...
*AEM EMS is the way to go (tuning is alot for this car)...
*a headgasket will get you over 400whp yes, but i'd buy one just to drop the compression and prolong your motor!!!
*go back and read "Johnnys2000" post again... 8psi is totally different on a 100mm turbo (which shuldn't be on the car anywayz!!!), than 8psi on a tiny *** 32mm turbo!!!

just my 2cents!!! Hope ya enjoyed

S/C can't hit 400whp at 8 psi and s/c don't produce as much torque.

You can hit 400 whp with a s/c, but with a lot more boost. Also, there is not an instant resposne with it.

A 400whp turbo S will be faster than a 400whp s/c S. Different powercurves.

His reply is one of the better ones.

I hate it when people say, "Your car should be able to handle X psi."

It's power based, not PSI based. From what I've read, 400whp seems to be where the stock block S2000 likes to sit at. it might take you 20psi on a little T3/T4, it might take you 12psi on a GT35R. Just know 400whp is the limit you should take it to.

both Turbo and S/C have there advantageous...
Reserch, and base it on what kind of driving you will be doing, and what kind of Goals you are looking for.

well under 9 psi for turbo applications is based on posts on this site concerning the common turbo kits and the feed back from the owners...

equal psi s/c and turbo the turbo yields more output at a lower rpm..s/c is on a curve so that as your rpm's increase so does ur power gain, causing the greatest gains at high rpm's...also robbing power through the crank...and if ur parts arent up to the hp when that s/c torques that crank shaft ur gonna breakparts...making the turbo produces higher hp numbers safer for stock blocks...

there is a growing movement now going with the turbo setup in dragracing...theres a black mustang cobra twin turbo winning a lot of races..and a corvette running twin turbos starting to pay off...

a centrifugal supercharger is going the be less stress on the engine vs a turbo at the same psi and cfm, turbo is boosting before and after peak torq on the f20c. a s/c dosent hit peak boost tell after peak torq drops off. the power curve is much more linear and way less stress on the enigne due to a hell of alot less cylinder pressure.

so no, turbos are not safter on a stock block, it all depends on the tuning, the engine will handle it, but there is no doubt a turbo is harder on an engine vs centrifugal supercharging
