Default Anybody with built high compression motor and turbo?

I just want to know what kind of high comp/boosted setups are out there and what kinds of numbers they're putting down. I currently have a built 10:1 c/r motor that i intend on boosting. Its a D16Y8, and id like to put down ~350WHP does anybody know what kind of boost level id be looking at? What kinds of problems arise as far as detonation are concerned? Suposedly the motor was built to handle 22psi and a 50 shot of direct-port N2O.

I ran a turbo on a 11.1:1 S2000 up to 5-6 psi. With a 2mm headgasket, I ran up to 10 psi with no detonation. S2000 guys have run up to 10 or so psi on stock motors.

thats not that high of compression.

with proper tuning, you'd be able to throw plenty of boost at it. most b series engine have higher compression than that from the factory, and people hurl well over 10 psi at factory B's.

proper/conservative tuning, and it will last a long time. good luck!-adam

anybody have some more technical insight? I realize that high boost+high comp on a streetable motor is not common, but i want to get as much info as possible. Please do not post just to throw in your 2 cents, thanks!

Yeah 10:1 is not to bad. For some reason I was thinking it said 11:1 this morning.

Isnt tony the tigers car tuned by tony1? (I cant remember if it says it in the video or now). I would say if you get it tuned right your ok. Bad tune could be bad though.

If I remember correctly Tony the Tiger did his own tuning.

i was thinking of tony the tiger too.

I would run colder plugs than normal, get a larger flowing turbo (more volume with less cylinder pressure) Less cylinder pressure before ignition the less the chance of pre-ignition. Run low ignition timing and boost the **** out of it. Run a knock sensor and be f'n careful.

But yeah 10:1 isn't "THAT" bad. I run 8:1...which is considered low. 9:1 is considered middle of the road....and I do know that some of the 700+ whp hondas run more than 9.5:1 CR....granted they run race fuel. But you arent going for 700 whp either.

Your answer lies in tuning.

I ran 11.5:1 SRP's in a GSR w/ OE headgasket and 12psi out of a straight to4e(.80/.70) for a while. Tuning was a nightmare for me and I would never do it again. I just got the motor in a trade so I was like, what the hell. It ran strong but, once again tuning was difficult.
