Default Blown S2000 Engine

Here is a couple of picks of a S2000 with a blown engine. The owner's cold air intake took a big drink of water when he hit a puddle. It turns out the engine wasn't very thirsty.

I uploaded a couple of pics to my web site. BlownS2000Engine

We don't know if the owner's insurance company is going to pick up the bill because the adjuster hasn't made it out to the shop yet. If it's not covered, well...he's screwed.

Did that say an AEM intake costs $9000 or something?
A $9000 intake? wtf
or are they being sarcastic and saying the intake cost the man $9000.
I just answered my own question.

He was being sarcastic.......... Who the hell would use an AEM without the bypass valve now after this same thing has happened on so many other engines?

Damn the $9200 intake would have been a much better deal if he invested the $50 for the bypass.

if your not an idiot you dont need the bypass which constantly lets hot air into your intake. Complete swaps with engine/tranny/ecu go for like 4k, thats nothing.

If 4K is nothing to you, then please share with me, cause that is a lot to me.

I just changed the first pic. I didn't realize the file size was 1.6 Mb. Sorry, 56K.

The price tag is $9K because the whole engine will be new factory parts. If the insurance company picks up the bill and if they can find a 2003 engine with less than 3K miles on it, the price will drop.

It must suck to spend 33K on a car, blow the engine in a few weeks and then get stuck with a 9K bill all before the first oil change.

relative to the cost of the car, and to the 9k he says it will be, 4k is nothing. Not to mention, 4k is less then b16b/b18c-r swap, and its a higher hp motor with a 6 speed tranny, so ud think it be more. But yeah, not saying i wanna blow my motor anytime soon.

If the insurance company can find an '03 with less than 3000 miles, they would use it. They don't get to put an older motor with higher miles in your car. Otherwise, they would use 100K mile engines every time they got the chance...

Yeah that sucks, a friend of mine with a lowered 01 cracked his oil pan, insurance covered the majority of it. If I were in that position I would look into this:

That spoon engine is a stock engine that's been overhauled by a spoon mechanic. Same as the driveaxles and transmissions they offer. It's really nothing that much better than a normal S2K engine.

BTW Did the insurance end up picking up the tab on this guys engine? I personally don't think they should because it was a not so well thought out mod that caused the problem. That's just my .02

this guy had to haev driven threw a pond or some ****, the guy said that the oil pan was half full of water, i say the guy got what he deserves for being a retard and driven threw that much water with a cold air, and dont give me this bullshit baout how it was just rainging outside, my last car was a integra gsr, it had a aem cold air and anybody thats seen where the filter is knows what im talking about its right bhind the bumper light, now i had no inner fender liner on that side and the filter was completly open to the elements, now i went threw a ton of huge rainstorms where there was several inches of water and NEVER had a single problem, this guy had to have driven into a HUGE amount of standing water and kept on the gas for it to suck all that water threw the fliter and all the way up that intake, so i say on this guy
