It blew today...
well in my previous threads talks about how I had bad compression in #1 cylinder...
Well...I figured the motor was going to be needed to be rebuilt anyway, and I just bought it...which really sucks but anyway, I put some lucas synthetic oil treatment in the motor, some fuel treatment... since lucas helped me get some compression back in a few previous motors... well today it finally gave on me.
I was in vtec in first gear and I heard a POOF, I look behind me and saw the smoke, after that I knew it was gone...
Well here is the results of the tests.
in the order of 1-2-3-4
compression test
100psi-205psi-215psi-240psi
leakdown test
22%loss-5%loss-5%loss-2%loss
I think I'm only going to change the rings in the first cylinder the others look relatively good, if not on the compression, they do on the leakdown...
Anybody know how much a set of rings is? and a ball hone? I'm gonna go ahead pull the head off, pull the pan off, rehone the cylinders and put a new set of rings in it. Its got 47k miles, its a 2003, think the cross/hex (sp?) pattern is still on the walls with that mileage or definately needs a new hone?

Same thing happened to me a month ago.
EXACT SAME THING.
Cracked #4 cylinder and the head was pretty much smashed too.
I said f it and did the F22 swap.
I now have a blown F20C looking at me.

Never Track or auto x'd.
I bought it used but I beleive it was a bum deal from the dealership.
I was also consuming wayyy too much oil. Seems to be a commom problem with many owners though.
Oh well. The F22 is holding up really well. No signs of oil consumption, yet.
