Battery Flat...now starter button does not work...HELP!
Just got home for th July trip, and my battery had gone flat.
It's been getting a bit sluggish, but its the original on my 01 which I've had from new.
Anyway I tried to jump it with booster cables, but although the ignition & lights came on, the starter button seems locked out - not even a click. So I charged the battery overnight and have 13v there now, and still not even a click.
Is there a lockout or immobilizer? I locked & unlocked on the key fob - but no difference.
Appreciate any suggestions please from you smart tech guys out there!

there is an immobilizer, and there are several cars that cannot be jumped because it will fry the electrical system...i would hope that people would know this...hopefully u didnt do some real damage
If the little green key light on the cluster comes ON and stays solid after you hit the start button, it's the immobilizer.
Thanks for replies guys,
1: The Owners manual gives instructions about jumping, so that seems OK.
2: The green key symbol on the dash goes off, so it seems that's OK. I also tried the spare key in case the original chip was fried.
Hmmm...

It's not the immobilizer. Even with a mismatched/unprogrammed key, the starter would still crank. There'd be no ignition (due to no fuel).
Your starter doesn't turn, right? I'd insert the key, turn the hey to "ON", and then go to the starter. By hand, try to jiggle or rotate the starter pulley.
The commuter in the starter motor may just be in a bad position, or worse, the starter may have gone bad.
I'd try looking for the simple stuff first:
Look at your fuel gauge.
---Do you have gas?
Check your main fuses (in the engine bay).
--Are any of the ones related to ignition blown?
Try starting up again.
--Are you turning the key to the full 'ON' position?

I checked all fuses and relays and all seemed to be OK, I removed and refitted likely ones.
Yes everything seems good to go, but when I press the Red Start button....nada...not even a click.
I'll check to see if it's possible to move the starter, but its probably a gear drive to the flywheel....even so I'd have expected to hear a relay click?
Really appreciate your thoughts guys!

Its Sorted....!!?
Just as I had resigned myself to getting it towed to Honda dealer, I moved the gear lever which seemed quite stiff, it had been in gear.....anyhow, next time I pressed the button it fired!
I don't understand it, but I thought I'd post the answer in case anyone else gets this experience.
Now I just have to find the code for the radio....
Thanks to all for your help
