back trunk plate
not sure if this is the right forum, but anyone know how to remove the back metal plate in the trunk (separates the interior from the trunk) i need to remove this or hear other ideas so i can put subs in my buddy's s2000...any help would be appreciated
what the hell is wrong with upping the terrible stock system??
there was a few pics and a short write up somewhere a while back but that was where he put his amp. most people stick one 8" (i think) in the back and put two 6" in the doors and new HU with amp and its rockin.

There's nothing separating the interior/passenger compartment from the trunk except a piece of ridgid carpet.

i checked out the s2000 today and there seems to be some sort of metal wall separating the trunk area from the actual interior of the car...it has carpet covering it in the trunk, but not sure about what to do with that metal piece. and i'm not sure how to describe it either...almost like a firewall in the trunk, but not

here some idea for you from s2ki

not sure will it be wise to cut anything on unibody car, the fuel pump assembly and convertible fold down tray will be in the way also.(and the spare tires)

i think i know what is it, you see it when you remove the rear vent plastic cover, there's a metal plate there, i think the rollbar support is around that area also, which make it very dangerious to do any cutting there.
if your buddy is dying for more bass, i guess you can put it in left and right side of the trunk. not the best effective sounds but space is very limited in the S

their just braces. you can't remove them, their used to mount things such as interior trim and soft top pieces.
if you want a sub box, your best bet is to custom fab something in the trunk. you can remove the plastic that covers the spare tire, cut a board, and mount something up in there. besides that you can use the tool kit hole in the center of the trunk, or fab something up in the sides of the trunk.

you can take the pieces holding the stock speaker out then run the wires threw that and to an amp but the sub will have to be in a custom box or in the trunk itself. my amp is in the spare tire well and i dont have a spare tire in the car (not my idea, i got it like that.) if you have a camera take pictures.
yep. no cutting. you can run it from the cd player under the leather around the console. thats how mine is then just out behind there and into the spare tire well. no cutting is needed.
my half size sony are mounted just below the passenger seat, right below the plastic vent panel. if you have a full size amp that needs more cooling, you might want to related it to the spare wheel well like someone said before.
i never have anything overheating with the amp but i don't have a sub hooked up, just for speakers and a pair of high in front.
I rand the wires under the carpet of the tranny tunnel like most of the guys said, it's best and easiest way, there's some room there, so the carpet would pop out.
make sure you use a plug removal tool when you pull the plugs, those bastard breaks all the time. autozone carry similar size/style of plugs.
no cutting here for me.
here's my budget set up
oem hu
oem changer(with rubber base insert)
sony half size amp
polks front 6.5"
Polks tweeter front(mounted inside of the door panels)
sony 4 ways rear 5.25"(cutted rear plastic panels)
W/ Monster wires
ipod connection
