Re: back glass
yeah that is the only way and it is not fun. If you can get one with the frame intact and that will make install a little easier. Welcome to owning an S

Re: back glass
You have to buy a new top. You can get an 03+ OEM top but you will need the 03+ frame as well. Or you can buy a robins top (or other aftermarket top) that works with the old style frame.

OK I am confused are you asking about how to switch to a glass window in the OEM soft top or an aftermarket hardtop? My original post pertains to switching from the plastic window in an OEM soft top. To do that you would need a 03+ soft top and 03+ frame, and preferably they be together. Now if you are asking about a aftermarket HT then this info does not apply.

You need to replace the window in your mugen hardtop, is that what you are saying? If so go to your local glass place and have them make a custom one for you.

Re: back glass
Then as stated above the easiest way is to get a soft top with glass and frame and swap it out. The reason why you want the frame is it makes installing the top much easier, no rivets to drill out and stuff to cut. Though it makes it more expensive to ship so try to find it local. Luckily you are in CA so a local top should be an easy find just go to S2KI and search the For Sale. Also if you want the rear defogger to work you will need to buy the parts for that too.

Yup, try and get a glass soft top attached to a frame, will knock off 6 hours in your installation, i know ive done it. All you have to do is take out the seats and most of the rear panels and it will bolt right up. They can go from 700 to 900 dollars used depending on condition.
