AP1 model from AP2 year ranges?
Hi there,
We have run into an issue with a customer of ours that seems to have an AP1 model S2000 from 2007. This contradicts what I know about the AP1 and AP2 models because I was under the assumption these model indications are related to facelift and pre-facelift vehicles and thus to production years.
Even Wikipedia says that in 2004 the facelift model came out and that that was the AP2.
So I did a VIN check with this guy and indeed he does have an AP1 model that was registered in 2007 and built in Japan in 2006. The VIN decoders confirm this. Everything on the car is facelift, but it still has the AP1 designation in the chassis code.
It came to light because we sold him a strut bar that will only fit the AP1 model but despite that it doesn't fit his car, which I think has to to with the fact that he does have the facelift.
I'm baffled and hope someone here can shed some new light on my understanding of the AP1 and AP2 designation.
Thank you kindly in advance!

Sounds like Honda F'ed up the VIN (or the did it on purpose. Who knows with the idiots that are running Honda now). Makes you wonder how many got through with an AP1 stamp?
This is fairly normal outside of the US - I'm not sure about 2007 models but I think they still had ap1 motors. Mine is a 2004 facelift but is an ap1
