alignment
my car broke loose an ran into a curb. I took it to the shop and got it fixed. they did the alignment on it and withn spec. I drove the car and it pulls to the right. wtf. I even bought new tires for the car to ruled out tire pull. any one ran into something like this. what could it be. I will take it to another alignment shop for a second opinion. maybe the other guys machine is out of calibration.
Either the 1st shop does not know how to do a proper alignment on our car or 2 is the shop that repaired your wreck did not correctly. I am leaning towards 2 and thinking an arm or something is bent
I will bring it to clawson honda. if something is bent, i am they will figure it out. my insurance company insist of me using the first shop. i told them to go to hell. if they could not simply do it right the first time. what makes them any better to fix it the second time. thanks for the input.
There are two things that mainly can make a car pull. one is a tire which you've replaced, and two is caster. Even if the alignment is within the tolerances, if the caster is off even a 10th of a degree from one side to the other it could cause a pull, especially on the s2000. if the caster is at max or min adjustment, that would tell me that there is something bent down there. ex: lower control arm, strut, etc.... Just for giggles, I would cross rotate the front tires just to see if it changes when you drive it. don't dismount the tires, just cross them and drive it. just to narrow the scope... good luck!
I can see why your Insurance Co. wants you to go back, they didn't fix it right. But can they or will they repair it correctly? Good luck.
This topic is on what I was going to ask you'all. I just had an alignment on my 2k, s2k, which has 44k miles on it. This was just after I replaced the tires (12k miles on them, they were new when I bought the car a little over a year ago). One of the tires (front passenger) was scalloped and this needed the alignment, and the rear on the same side had severe wear on the inside tread, and it was a bad tire. All of the adjustments were out a small amount except the first mentioned which wasn't bad enough to notice in driving, but enough to damage the tire.
So, the question is this: how often do you have your alignment checked?

Everyone probably will tell you different times and mileages. I personally check it every 12k. It sounds like when the tires were replaced on your car, the alignment wasn't done at that time. Unless you're driving it hard (ei corners, rr tracks, bumps, potholes, etc....) The funny thing about alignments is that it can be completely out and still drive perfectly straight down the highway.....

okay, finally got some result. the lower control arm was slightly bent and the spindle was slightly bent. SAI on the left was 10.7 and right was 9.8 wtf was my answer. the new alignment shop i took it to was quick to point out the problems that the other body shop plan half assing. the car drive straight and the goodyear f1 tires are awesome. thanks for all the advice.
That answers it! thanks. The reason I asked is that they had a "life time waranty" for $119. I guess it would be a good deal then. They (Firestone) suggested checking it that often.
