Replacing belt and tensioner on buddy's 97 Lude. Asked for gates tbelt, Oreilys gives one (t244) but the teeth are much too coarse to fit the crank and timing gears. Sent the old one to cross-reference...they send t226 now the teeth match cams,crank but not water pump. Water pump has the coarse teeth like the t244. Is the pump wrong? This car was purchased at a low price and the engine looked like ****.Car had around 75k on the clock but the engine looked like 300k. Don't know whats been done. Some ******** did some bad stuff to this block...angle grinder to remove head gasket material, etc. It was running like this for a while, I can't believe it. It's late. **** this.

 

Can you see a number on the water pump gear?

 

Yes, it said 19t...asked for a pump for 97 and they handed over one with 26. fixed it. Time to sleep.
