Whoaa!! Must see all the TSB's for 5th gens IMPORTANT!
Click link:
Fill in year, type, etc:
Click on TSB's (Technical Service Bulletins)
Car Maintenance Schedules, Recalls, and Technical Service Bulletins
http://www.edmunds.com/car-maintenan...33&PID=3865112
Can anyone chime in on these?
Does anyone know if some of these TSB's effect ALL 5TH GENS???
Do you just take you lude into the dealership and have them check everything?
Or just on a "need too" basis?
I seriously wasn't expecting TONS of TSB's on the lude

More than half of them are duplicates, automatic transmission, or just plain stupid [Replace load rating sticker, for example].
If you're concerned about your 'lude, next time you bring it in for an oil change, have them check your car against recalls. Generally for any given recall or TSB, there is a list of affected VIN#s. I think you can actually put your VIN# in on the NHTSA website and they can show you all of the TSB's for your car. That part of the Edmunds site is just a proxy for the NHTSA site, they're just looking up what you could yourself.
Look up the TSB's for a 2006 Civic, there's a bunch of recalls to replace the headlight housings, because you can put non-yellow lights in them. Seriously?? Honda has to replace them, because of what "I" might do??
Not to downplay the real TSB's but Honda ones generally tend to be less dangerous, and more fiddley, cause Honda owners are so particular about their cars.
You want to see some serious TSB's, look up the early 90's Dodge Caravans, there's **** there like, in collisions, the rear lift gate opens causing things to fall out ... like your small children ...

you take your car to some shop and have them check all that **** at once... theyre gonna start racking up the parts and cost, cuz they will recommend that you change all your ****. especially if your car is any where near 10 yrs old... usually the ball joints and suspension bushings are gonna be on their way out. not necessarily a need to do basis. if theyre torn and leaking grease or just blown apart then you prolly should do them. expect to spend about 40-60 a ball joint. youll easily spend 300-400 on all 8. (4 upper and 4 lower). then if your not mechanically inclined or dont have the equipment youll need to pay someone to press the old ones out and the new ones in. shouldnt cost much at all to do. then energy suspension's sells bushing kits that'll pretty much takes care of everything else. look to spend like 250-350 for a whole kit...or more depending on the amount of bushings the kit includes.
axles are easy to check, just check the inner and outter boots for grease. if theyre ripped youlll usually see **** tons of grease all over youre wheels and wells. you'll hear clicking most times when turning too. Also if you have youre car up off the ground grab the upper and lower part of the tire and try pushing the top in while pulling the bottom out & vice versa, you shouldnt have any movement.
do oil changes your self and save a few bucks. change it every 2500 or 3000.
nothing usually needs done with the exhaust unless you hear it ****in up...
