Default wheel bearings - easy to replace?

first of all, what is the symptom of a worn wheel bearing? I have a low, deep, moaning/humming sound coming from the rear of the car from about 30-45 mph.

how does one replace the wheel bearing, if it is the culprit? I've taken my suspension apart plent of times so thats not the problem - and I know you have to take the bearing somewhere & get it pressed in... but what comes out? anyone done this before?

Teh wheel bearing is inside the knuckle. The axle goes through the center of it. Does that answer your question?

I know that you will need a press to get it back in, but I don't remember if you can take it out yourself. I need to get a Helm's.
