Best wheel size for????
There's no "best overall" anything...
I'd get something light weight wheels with sticky tires.. And I'd personally stay with 16's on the 5thGen.. I'm getting light weight 15's for my 4thGen, whenever they come in from JapanLand...... Can't wait..
I don't know where you're from, so I don't know what weather you're about to go through this winter, so sticky tires might not be good, you might need All-Season..
I'm in AZ, no need for All-Seasons..

i run 18" on my 5th gen but had to raise the car a bit on the rear (good thing the previous owner installed tein suspension) my car is a bit more for show than racing. With the stock 16" I ran Nitto 555 and just about never gripped through 1st and second without a long burnout. Havnt gone to the track with the 18" but ive noticed is almost no tire slippage to the size with generic all season tires (good 18" tires are way too expensive for me right now). my 18"'s are light though, turning is about the same too. It all depends on your taste and what you plan on doing with your lude. I dont see why you should have problems with 17" and in my opionion if i was going to buy rims again i would still get them bigger than stock. might be wrong though, perhaps 16 is the best. Here's a pic of mine.
Took off the ugly REV emblems and made some carbon Honda ones.

And this is one way that smaller wheels can be better.

lol, true. I plan on buying good tires later so i got the rims ahead of time with cheap-o tires that arent so cheap ($90 each). Nitto and Toyo tires are about ($140+ Each) and the rims were on sale for $480 for all four, guy was closing up his shop, original price was something around 800-900.

well 16" nitto 555 cost me $94 each(including mounting and balancing), 17 a bit more and 18 $140, just remember when comparing the difference in price that you have to mulitply the difference by 4, cuz 4 $100 tires are 400 bucks and 4 $120 are 500. As for the size, can't really help there, hopefully someone with more knowledge on that can help or consult a tire shop. Some tire shops know whats the largest size you can fit on a certain car, try that out before buying.

Check your math doodz..
4 @ $120 /= $500
4 @ $120 = $480
Original Equipment Tire Size is 205/50-16, so that's where you want to start from when deciding on what tire size.
You have to decide on what size wheels you want... Which you should decide on what size you want, you should be looking at what WHEEL you want and then see what sizes it comes in, and then choose..
As for what type of tire.. What kind of weather do you have where you live? What type of weather will you be driving through? Do you need snow tires? Do you get a lot of rain? Is it mostly sunny?
It doesn't rain very often here, so I'm good with Summer Tires.

Re: whats the best wheel size for 5th gen prelude? (MLBZ521)
17s man. I just bought a set of Acura TSX 17" wheels and they look great. 18s look too big, 16s too little considering the size of the car. 17s visually filled the space (I mounted 215x45-17 tires) and the car gets compliments(!). Go with 17s.
