Its just a little breather for the transmission. It usually has a rubber cap on it. I use that hole to fill my tranny.

Who knows, it might extend the life of your tranny fluid...

But for real, you can cap it off, and nothing would happen... I used a rubber cap from Autozone.

well you shouldn't block it. It should be a breathable cap.

What kind of Transmission fluid are you running? I'm using Redline MTL in my ATR Tranny. I want to make sure I'm running the right fluid.

It's not a breather. Cap it. They come with rubber caps. Dirt will get in easier if you don't.

Second thought. Who cares. Don't do it.

Same here. There are a bunch of guys that run the GM synchro mesh and love it. It has even temporarily cured the gremlin synchro problems that some members have had.

I leave mine open. The rubber cap was lost a long time ago and it's been fine since.

I'll throw in my .02 - Get a breather cap, or something to keep any dirt from getting in there. A doubled over piece of cloth with a rubber band works fine.
