Vtec oil usage?
Hey folks new to the forum,
I recently had a JDM H22a swapped and it seems that between oil changes it is drinking about a quart of oil.. it doesnt appear to be burning it [that i can smell or see during idle], and i dont see any leaks on the ground or along oil pan/engine area
however i did infact read somewhere before coming here that vtec when it engages "naturally drinks" oil? my prior experiance tells me that oil loss that is not coming from leaks is being burned due to bad valve seals n what not.. should i be looking to replace them or is this all normal?

a full quart seems excessive but there is a consumption issue with v-tec motors. nothing to worry about just check your oil when you fill up tour tank and there should be no worry's. whatever you do don't let the oil level get to low and then engage v-tec.

Check your oil!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That a top Rule for VTEC owners!

^that scares me (i dont want my 3k investment to die so soon
) but if its normal you fellahs say then i believe you i never let it get below half a quart low at a time.. although on break i just looked at the left side of the head where the sensors are screwed in and noticed that there appears to be some spray of oil there.. is this maybe where the oil is going?

Also check for leaks at the valve cover gasket and oil pan.
That's not that bad. Just make sure to keep an eye on it, and keep a spare qt of oil in the car.
My previous Prelude did the same thing and when I switched to 5W20 Mobil1 synthetic oil, it stopped. Same with my TypeR motor.

Yea the spray appears to be on the lower end of the head whre the head meets the block i think theres an oil sensor of some kind there and thats where the spray appears to be.. could that hose* if thats what it is.. be bad? or the sensor all together? also.. should i try switching to synthetic then?

or leakage. I lost 3qts in 20 miles. haha damn balancer seal..
I would say a qt every oil change is normal for the h22. especially if you engage vtec a lot.
