VTEC with Boost?
While on my way home from work today, I was feeling the urge to hit VTEC. So as I shifted from 1st into 2nd, I floored it, it took me a second it rev up since I shifted out of 1st at 3500rpm's, but when VTEC engaged, I could hear it kick in, and the power increase could definately be felt. I was wondering if a JRSC were intalled, would the VTEC still be as niticable? VTEC is so cool, it goes from a steady pull, to a hard pull real quick. Just curious....
Super chargers are more for quicker starts than anything in the higher RPM's. Turbos usually kick in anywhere between 4500 and 6000 RPMs which I believe is right over the VTEC engagement. If you get a turbo for your Lude, then you will quickly forget about the 'mediocre' (compared to turbo) engagment. The turbo kick will blow the VTEC away!

Cool, teh reason I have been looking at SC is because its a little cheaper than a good Turbo kit, less tuning, can up the boost with the use of a smaller pulley, and nitrous works very well with the SC. I am saving right now, have about 600 saved, and shpuld have the kit by time summer rolls around. Just was curious about the VTEC thing.

Roots-style blowers (i.e. those found the JR kits) will simply amplify the stock power curve, so you'll still feel the 'bump' in power from VTEC.
Just take a look at any dyno of any VTEC honda equipped with a JRSC (preferably with a stock VTEC point for illustrative purposes).
Check my site for H22A dynos.

with a blower ull be getting constant boost from the let go..JR has a vetec controller than can modify when it kicks in.. http://www.jacksonracing.com
My friends SC GSR is running 10lbs of boost and you only see the effect of VTEC on the DYNO graph because it affects fuel ratios. It makes me scared to ride with him(232@wheels b4 the new upgraded map sensor!)! He would own my car in a race, now traction is another story!
Well IRANMAN is running 9lbs of boost now, and is putting down about 260whp with his Prelude, which I think is awsome. With a lightened flywheel, his revs would be crazy fast. I want to see a Prelude with a JRSC at 9lbs of boost, along with 60 shots of nitrous, now that would be crazy. I dont know for sure, but I would bet that it would result in an 11 sec Prelude.

My car does NOT run at 9psi! If you read the post, you'd see that I simply posted dyno graphs of a Prelude that was tuned with the 9psi by the person who SELLS the pulleys himself. It was an informational post, not an observation by myself. Thanks for posting my dreams, though.
