Default VSS Problem, Guru's please help

I have been battling with my speed sensor issue for a while now, and at this point i am stumped and hoping someone can shed some light for me.

Today i was testing the wires/connector to the speed sensor and came up with the following:

the power/ground (yellow and black wires) is getting the 12v like it's supposed to. When i connect the multimeter to the blue and black wires, it is supposed to pulse between 0v and 5v....as i turn the passenger wheel. When i turn the wheel forward, i am getting a steady reading of 0v...when i turn the wheel backwards(reverse) i get a pulse of .17v to 4.82v.

This has me puzzled...how come i am getting a reading when turning the wheel backwards, but get nothing while turning it forward?

I have gone through and swapped ecu's, gauge clusters, and speed sensors as well with no change.

in addition..

I used the following link to help troubleshoot, etc:

http://techauto.awardspace.com/vss.html

Based on what the guide says:

"If there are no 0V to 5V pulse on the DMM but there is voltage between Yellow and Black wire, then the speed sensor (VSS) is dead or the drivelink is missing or the gear shaft is broken."

I am sure that atleast one of the speed sensors i tried was good....the drive link is not missing, and gear shaft appears fine.

I'm getting a pulse, but only when turning the wheel in revese.

The car is not running very well either...inconsistant throttle, bogs, etc.

This is a jdm obdI H22 swap in a 00 civic. Has worked fine for the last 5 years.

Thanks in advace folks!

sounds like an ecu or wiring issue if you KNOW at least one of the speed sensors is good, the drivelink isn't missing, and the gear shaft appears fine.

I have a similar case with the speedsensor aswell. I had a '98 Accord and my speedsensor went bad, all I did was replace it and never had a problem with it. Now my '98 'Lude speedsensor went bad aswell, I've decided to take the easy way out and hopefully replacing solves the problem.
