VSS Problem
Last week speedo stopped working completely and therefore computer not happy and 4WS shutdown. Anyway replace VSS today. Drove car for about 20mins then speedo started working intermitantly. Checked connector, gave it a degrease cause the old plug had been a bit oil coated, gave it a bit of RP-7, let it dry. Reconnected. Test drove again, fine no probs for about 20 mins then speedo on/off again continuously and of course computer not happy again and 4WS shut down. Not sure whether heat is a factor in this problem or if i have a problem with the electrical wiring. As i dont have a multimeter at the moment (cause i blew it up) i cant really check electrical wiring at moment.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions on how to fix this prob any help is much appreciated.

Something else which may be relevant is that i did a major service on my Prelude 3 days before the speedo first stopped. New timing belt, water pump, belts, ngk plugs, filters, fluids, front pads etc.
Yeah got cel up, but i havent read the code yet. I will go and do that now. Also i just did a search on vss, and a few people had a problem where the bracket which secures the vss to the trans has cracked under high load, so i am going to go check that now too (should be fine though seeing as i just replaced it).
Braket is fine. Checked code: vss is stuffed. Asked my sparky about it and he said most likely the circuit board in the top of the unit is dying. I knew the connection to the trans was fine and the electrical connector was good, didn't figure on the circuit board being f&%k#d. He said he doesnt bother putting in used vss units anymore cause they quite often fail on him, so he just installs new ones now. Anyway i rang the wrecker i got the vss unit off and he is going to refund me the cost of the part. So i will splash out an extra bit of cash and get a new unit and be done with it. I dont want get another used part only to replace it again in another few months to a couple of years (or couple of days as in my current situation). Anyway for those of you who encounter vss problems, i hope my findings may be of help to you guys in the future if/when your vss units fail.
