Yes rotate it first a little before pulling it straight up.

I mean this piece---

This is the actual VSS, and the part you can't get off is for the power steering. Check the actual electrical connectors..

it looked fine..... i didnt look at it really good though because you guys said i had the wrong piece. The little metal piece was in good shape and the sensor looked good too.

Ok this is exactly what happened to me a few months ago..

My VSS was held on by 2 bolts just like yours.. when everyone said it would only be held on by 1 bolt!!!

Anyways all i did was replace the top part of the VSS and everything worked fine..

I reckon if you can get another VSS(the top part) and plug it in, then you can see if that's the problem or not..

Goodluck!!

not exactly sure if the problem of the mysterious second bolt was solved yet but i found that one is the electrical connection bracket for the VSS that is bolted to the tranny as well as the VSS bolt itself. the two must be removed.. yep, two.

since this is a thread about VSS. I just wanted to add that there are two different styles of VSS even So if your looking for a replacement remember to make sure that you get the right one.

heres a pic that I made a long time a go and happened to find it today

the thing i was talking about is the sensor at the top, that has 2 bolts. The one everyone else was talking about is the bottom part, which has one bolt.

the sensor is the top part and the bottom is the power steering part.

BTW how the hell did you get the whole thing out? i tried to pull that thing like crazy still wont come out. twist turn pull everything.
