Default type s cam problem

I just installed my new type s cams from hmotorsonline.com in my jdm h22.
after getting done I took it to the dyno to be tuned. with the stock cams I was able to make 172hp at 7000 rpm and 141 tq at 5250 rpm with a hondata s200

now with the cams I was only able to get 170 hp at 7000 and 135.1 at 5250
im stumped as to why i made no gain.

need more info. but it's really difficult to tell due to temp/humidity differences, etc.

do you have higher compression pistons?

what about cam gears?

The motor is mostoly stock I just have intake header exaust and the throttle body is bored to 64mm. I wasn't expecting to gain a whole lot but I thought I would get some kind of gain. Just wanted to get into the 13 sec range best time so far was a 14.0

I am looking into doing the same modification to my JDM H22 hatchback. I have a little more bolt-ons than you. AN-R Race header, Custom Straight Pipe Exhaust (no cat) 2.5" piping, MSD Digital 6 + 2step, Custom Short Ram Intake w/9" K&N Filter, and MSD Wires.

I just purchased a complete JDM Type S head with Port and Polished Type S Intake Manifold. I am hoping to crack into 210 to 215 wheel HP when all is said and done. I think what is restricting your power might be your exhaust setup/size/exhaust canister/cat? Also bear in mind that you really need that high compression piston to really take advantage of the more agressive cam profile in the vtec lobe. Also the stock cam gears really don't allow that much room into fine tunning...look into a set of Skunk 2's.

Good luck...keep us posted on your progress.

high compression pistons are key to getting power out of higher/longer lift cams. you still should have made some power since stock pistons aren't really low compression pistons. i know a guy that got cams for his b18c1 and lost about 10 whp, then he got pistons and made like 25whp (+15 whp from his stock internals setup). and these figures are without ANY kind of tuning, just dyno runs to see what kind of power he was making.
