Yes the tweets can be replaced, they just require some creative mounting. I thought the easiest way was to just used some silicone and stick it on. I think you'll understand once you take the grill off. Mines been fine like that for 3 years.
Yeah, I bought a component set made by Boston Acoustics. I dont remember exactly what model but they scream. For $300 I got 2 tweeters, and 2 6 1/2 sized speakers, as well as the crossovers.
Like he said it'll take some creative mounting on your part, but its usually an easy deal. I took some bailing wire and weaved it through a part of the frame of the tweeter. I took the other end and stuck it through a portion of the speaker cover and stuffed the crossovers in there. Then mouting the 6 1/2's was pretty straighforward. Talk about ghetto rigging.
