Default mtx separates speaker wont work

IN my gmc truck it came with mtx separtes in the front door that are fairly new. they were installed by circuit city. I noticed the other day though that only the tweeters are working, and the speakers are not (On both sides)

I checked out all the wiring and it looks good from what i can tell, secure soddered connections...any ideas.

Thanks for any help please

Blown mids, blown passive x-overs, if there is an amp make sure x-over point is not set to high or if there is a 1x/10x switch, that it set to 10x.94

no amp, its run off the stock deck. I did notice a round black thing with a wire coming out of each end of it in teh crossover. One end was connected and the other was not, so i poked it down thru the board again and resoddered it...still no luck.

I'm gonna pull the other door apart and see if the passenger side looks the same. Would that have been repairable or if it had come detached then its done for?

Try this, remove a speaker and touch the terminals with a batt. [AAA, AA, C, D or 9V will work] pos.(+) terminal of batt. to pos.(+) speaker terminal, neg.(-) terminal of batt. to neg.(-) speaker terminal, you should hear a "pop" and speaker cone should move out, it you reverse the batt. you still get the "pop" but cine moves in, if you hear the "pop" then the no sound problem is not in the speaker.
What is the model number of the speakers? 94

sweet, i'll try that tomorrow... i tried to tape the spade connectors of truck harness to the speaker wires and turn the radio on and the speaker didnt work, but it was cold and possible the connections werent good. I find it hard to believe that two fairly new 6" mtx speakers would go bad, but i'll test them tomorrow. thanks

If you can not get the speaker to "pop" with a batt. the speaker is NG. 94
