You should lower your compression if you want to run boost over 6-8psi. Although with great tuning and management you can run over that, I have heard of people running 9-12 psi. But to be safe and feel a little more at ease running double digit boost, block build up is recommended. An ideal compression is 9:1, anywhere from 8.4 to 9.5 is good(the lesser gives you more range to work with, the higher gives you better response in city driving and low or no boost times.
