I had 3rd gear replaced in my car a few years ago. Now recently 3rd gears starts to grind slightly again. Its only when shifting from 2nd to 3rd. When I downshift into 3rd from 4th,its OK.Is there also a problem with 2nd gear synchro? I am about to get the transmission worked on again and I don't want to leave anything wrong again.

 

I'd get all of the synchro's replaced this time around, if it has a lot of miles on it and 1 set went wrong and now a second they all might be on their way to going out.

 

your shelves might also be shot so it makes your snychros get worn out....the shelves have to be very pointed like the synchros...so some of the teeth are round then there no good....

The way you drive a 5 speed, I bet it don't work, lolz.

 

shelves are what controls the tranny to go into gears so it slide into the synchro...when a synchro goes bad most likely that the shelve also went bad...
