Top Speed?
I have a quick and simple question:
I did the math and it seems to me that a stock H22A with a factory rev limit of 8200rpm and no top speed limiter bolted to an M2S4 should be capable of a top speed of about 173 mph on factory 4th gen. wheels and tires; correct? Can anyone confirm this?

who the hell told you 8200rpm, that motor revs out at 7200, and ive topped mine in a controlled environment, at 155, with a m2s4 trans, and i duuno if it kep accelerating but it felt like it was stayin there..

it seems to me that the redline starts at about 7400, not really sure tho but who knows, and yeah --> fuel cut at 7800

I hit 128 once in my f22 prelude pissed one night, but it has seen 125 maybe 2 other times and 120 others...try not to drive really fast often b/c of idiot drivers...although most would consider it idiot like to drive at these speeds i am talking about. Im from GA so i can hit some back roads that have 2 mile strait aways with no one on them.... Bout to be through boosted in 1.5 months and it will be interesting to see what the ol' prelude can do..

Ok, I build H23's and my H22 building buddy is the one that told me H22's rev to 8200 stock. However he failed to mention that his idea of a stock H22 is a JDM motor with a chipped P28/72. ie: no fuel cut, super high rev limit. I don't know if it's normal or not but I have personally seen more than one bone stock H22 rev to 8200 rpm both in neutral and through 4 gears with no problems at all.
On another note, my built H23 with no rev limit has taken me well over 140mph (controlled environment of course) on more than one occassion. Probably around the 150-155 mph range at about 7500rpm (Don't quote me on those numbers-speedo doesn't go as high as the tac). It still pulls extremely hard at this speed and was not showing any signs of slowing down. Someone has to have been higher than this with a more powerful higher revving engine? Who's gonna admit it?

another thing to take into account, not just rev limiter/fuel cutoff (if thats an issue, for some its not) is what the tires that came from the factory were rated to... just a thought

Re: Top Speed? (ECX)
i cant say that i have ever hit the rev limiter, or fuel cut. ive brought it too the track, and for a 1/4 i have to hit 8000 for every shift or i have to shift into 4th, and ive never hit anything.

you sure about horsepower and drag determining it? don't you mean torque, drag, and gearing?
horsepower is just a function of torque. gearing just multiplies it. correct me if i'm wrong.

why rev that high on a stock motor tho? jdm motor with nice bolt ons and tuning stop making power around 7400.

Re: (yOnKiNaToR)
yes am pretty sure, there's equations for everything but basically if you want to go stupid fast you need horsepower, not torque, and a low co-efficient of drag. my audi a4 diesel has twice the torque of my prelude and my prelude can kick its ***. brake horsepower is a measurement of torque over one minute so you could argue that you need high end torque for top speed, depends how you want to look at it
