Tons of coolant pressure....why?
Alright, I bought a new radiator from C&R racing for the 4th gen turbo that most of you should know i have by now, anyway, i replaced the thermostat this morning and put the radiator, bled all the air out and did everything right. Now i have tons and tons of pressure in my coolant lines and the brand new radiator is smoking out pressure like crazy....i can't figure out what else it could be, the old radiator popped under the pressure, i just figured it couldn't handle it.....but its still tons of pressure, the headgasket is new, no coolant in the oil or ne theing like that.....wtf else could it be????
Try this: After the car is cool, take off the radiator cap, start the car up, let it warm up a bit, then look down into the radiator. See if you can see the coolant flowing (pumping) though. If the coolant is not flowing or just flowing out of the cap, then something is likely clogged up.

It's a leaky headgasket...does it only pressurize after you boost on it? I had similar issues before ARP had a head stud set for the h motors. You won't get any mixing as the cooling system is only pressurized when combustion gases leak into the cooling jacket, the leak's not bad enough for coolant and oil to mix. I went through a couple headgaskets and ended up cracking the stock rad...ended up with a fluidyne, ARP studs, and a cometic gasket.

I already have the cometic head gasket thou... anyway... it looks like it may have cleared up on its own some how, like whatever blockage there was free-d up or something..... the hoses still have a lil more pressure than i would like, but i let it sit in the driveway with the AC on and it didn't over heat....and the hoses seemed ok....so I think m ok for now....lets hope anyway....i should probably replace those head bolts with the ARP's thou.......where can i get them?
Hey clendaniel, m local to you..... and I've heard about your prelude, I'd love to see it sometime, and I'll show you my setup too, did you do that upgrade to Toms supra yet? Hope your lude is running soon, i know you've had some problems... let me know
