Tire Sizing
Sorry if a similar topic has been posted elsewhere, but I'm kinda in a rush to get tires ordered so thought I'd go ahead and post anyway. I have a '92 Prelude S with 17x7 rims (totally uncommon, i know). I currently have 205/40's (nitto nt450's) but am wanting to go with a wider tire and a thicker sidewall because the oklahoma roads have beaten the crap out of my wheels through the skinny rubber. So far no suspension work has been done, so the car is at stock ride height, but in the near future will be approx. 1.5-2" lower, so there's that to consider for tire rubbing. I'm considering Falken Azeni's or some Yok. avs's (don't have a whole lot of money to spend on them). So the real question is what is the widest logical size that will work on a 7" wide rim so i can still turn the wheel, and along with that, what thickness sidewall so that it will protect a little more but doesn't look like its ready for off roading. Any help is appreciated. by the way, if anyone has any experience with online or catalog tire ordering and best prices, I'd appreciate any info on that as well.
Yeah, I went with the 225/40 18 and they rub in the back when I go over large bumps. I had to put my stock springs back on until I could get my fenders rolled. Don't go larger than the 225. i would recommend the 215 for 18's so there will be enough clearance. Good luck.
