Default Timing Verification

As mentioned in a previous post, my car is still having problems.

To verify timing is correct, does this method work. (car not running)

Rotate crank so the white mark on the flywheel is within sight, verify #1 at TDC and match that up to rotor being at #1?

Thanks

pull off the valve cover check with arrows pointing up that the LINES on exh and int cam gears are across from each other perfectly. i don't like doing it the way you are explaining. leaves room for error. big flywheel to catch 360 degrees of rotation......twice
